This is an advanced, electronic, computerized focuser preferred by dedicated imagers. The Moonlight Nightcrawler 3.5" focuser with various extension tubes and 2" and 1.25" adapters. Both Optec and Starlight Instruments make motors for these focusers. This is an American-made focuser that is equally smooth to the focuser above but is larger. The Starlight Instruments 3.5" focuser, with 4.5" of travel and 2" and 1.25" compression ring adapters. Both Optec and ZWO motors attach directly to this focuser allowing even more precise focusing. This is the same as used on our smaller aperture telescopes. This is our brand focuser that is well known as a stable and smooth 3" focuser with a highly accurate 8 to 1 reduction that allows absolutely precise focusing. The Stellarvue 3" focuser. This focuser has 4.5" of travel and 2" and 1.25" compression ring adapters. With the dew shield retracted the length is reduced to 44 1/4".Ībout 9.1" diameter, fully retracting dew shield with threaded aluminum cap. The complete telescope is 54” long with dew shield extended and focuser all the way in. The main tube is about 7.95" in diameter. 44.5 pounds with mounting rings and TP019A Losmandy-style rail. Machined, fully baffled, aluminum tube painted instrument white outside, ultra-flat back inside. Buy a Stellarvue Telescope with confidence.ġ80 mm clear aperture, 1,260mm focal length (F-7), apochromatic triplet using super low dispersion (SD) optical glass. Since we are a telescope maker, we can repair your telescope for a very nominal fee years after it goes out of warranty, should you accidentally drop it on concrete or otherwise damage it. Stellarvue telescopes and accessories are covered by a two-year warranty. Two Year warranty and Stellarvue Service : We are friends for life. Check the Recommended Accessories section to make the best choice for eyepieces. Although Dawes limit states maximum magnification power for telescopes under good conditions is about 420 powers for a telescope of this size, this high-Strehl APO refractor can exceed this power on steady nights. Light gathering and magnification power: A 180mm refractor gathers 661 more times the amount of light than the naked eye. Customers receive a copy of the Rochigram for their objective as shown to the right. For this process, we employ our double pass auto-collimator using a Thorlabs 545 nm LED, a precision glass Rochi with 150-line ruling, and a Zeodur 1/20 wave optical flat. Once the aberrations are minimized to the lowest possible level, we do the final spherical correction centering the correction in green light at 545 nm. In the summer of 2023, we added an additional step to our process. This tedious process is repeated over and over again for months until the optic is as good as we can make it. Objectives are then cleaned, cooled overnight, reassembled, realigned and then measured again. The work we do is incredibly tedious as objectives are measured, then disassembled and hand figured to reduce aberrations. We also address trefoil by replacing any elements that exhibit this aberration during the process. This is done over a period of several months to eliminate common issues we find in machine polished objectives including astigmatism, coma, and spherical error. Once the glass is polished by machine, Stellarvue opticians meticulously hand figure objectives in our shop using our Zygo Phase Shifting Laser interferometer and a double pass autocollimator. Optics: SVX series optics are not made in mass production solely on machines.
